Honors Festival

Outside of Marina High School, our students participate in various festivals hosted by local universities and by our district.

2024 Guest Conductor was Eleanor Nunez. 25 Marina students auditioned for District Honor Band. 19 students were selected, including 5 1st part or 1st chair players!

The Huntington Beach District Honor Band is a group of highly skilled musicians from the various high schools within the district. The group is an audition-only ensemble, and Marina is well represented every year. The group practices together in only 6 rehearsals. A guest conductor works with the ensemble leading up to an unforgettable performance at the historic Huntington Beach High School auditorium.

The CSULB Bob Cole Conservatory of Music also hosts an annual Honors Festival in the famous Carpenter Center in the heart of Long Beach. To be a part of the group, students audition with a video recording of themselves. Both string students and concert band students have enjoyed the 3-day rehearsals that take place the first weekend of the year. Famous guest soloists, recently including Eric Marienthal and Andy Martin, perform with the ensemble which yields a unique performance.

The Musco Center for the Arts opened March 2016.. This year 10 Marina students were selected to perform in the Chapman Honor Band
