MARINA HIGH SCHOOL - Viking Marching Band
Welcome to the 2026 Marina High School Viking Marching Band!
You are now a part of a dynamic organization with a strong tradition of excellence. Our band family has a reputation for being not only an excellent performing group, but also a group filled with energetic, fun and respectful students. In past years, the Instrumental Music Department at Marina performed for thousands of people. This year’s marching show is sure to be another outstanding production. The music is fun and challenging.
Here are some things to remember:
- Band Camp is required – contact me with concerns
- Contact me ASAP if you need an instrument
Band Camp is two weeks of jam-packed practicing to prepare us for the start of the school year. We practice in the band room and on the football field at Marina. We will learn new music, have sectionals, work on your marching skills, learn at least half of the field show drill, be fitted for uniforms, and have a great time. If you miss Band Camp, you will miss the equivalent of over 5 weeks of school practice time.
Be on time and wear cool comfortable clothes and sneakers to march in. YOU WILL NEED A WATER JUG!!! Don’t wear flip flops!! If possible, get a lyre and flip folder for your instrument (used to hold marching music). Any local music store should have both items in stock. You will need at least 8 extra pages for your flip folder. We will have a supply of these items as well. Percussion students will need a 3-ring binder with page protectors (both are available at school)
Please refer to the online calendar for the daily Band Camp schedule. During these two weeks, we will work really hard. It’s tiring, but it’s also fun and amazing!
Band Camp starts on August 18th – 1:00pm
New students, if this all seems overwhelming, don’t worry. Every member of our band has experienced similar feelings and have become valuable members of our program – you will too!
