Performances

The year for Instrumental Music Department students at Marina is filled with concerts, parades, football games, field show competitions, festivals, pep rallies, and graduation.

The first performances for the Vikings happens during Band Camp, performing for the freshmen during Viking Voyage one morning, and performing a sneak peek of the competitive field show at the end of Band Camp for our families and friends.

Once school begins, there are pep rallies and football games until early November.  The competitive season for the marching band opens early October & finishes up just before Thanksgiving.  A few Holiday parades wrap up the marching season, with a possible trip to Disneyland to march down Main Street.  Second semester performances are a bit different, with smaller groups of students traveling for competitions (winter guard & drumline) weekly, while the full band just has a few performances.

Attendance at our performances is vital.  We have no sideline sitters to fill an empty spot – band is a “varsity” sport which demands a bigger commitment than other activities. Please add performance dates to your family calendar and keep updated through our email blasts.

Ice Cream Social (aka “Come and meet other band students, staff, student leaders, boosters, and enjoy FREE ice cream while we go over the handbook & explain what being a member of the Viking Band will look like for the 2015-2016 school year!) is our first kick-off for the coming year. This year, the date is Monday, August 3 at 6:30 p.m., in the Band Room. Families are welcome – who can resist ice cream in the summer?
